Geopark

Troodos joined the UNESCO World Geopark Network in 2015. The Troodos Geopark spreads over an area of ​​1147 sq. km and covers about 45% of the total area of ​​the Troodos mountain range. The Marathasa area falls entirely within the boundaries of the Geopark, which extends from an altitude of 300 m to 1952 m at Chionistra. The Troodos Geopark protects the outstanding natural environment with its exciting geological phenomena and impressive rock formations, together with the rich cultural heritage and local traditions of the area.
