The Vineyard Trail

This is a medium grade circular route, 6.2km in length (3 and a half hours hike), suitable for hikers in good physical condition. The first section follows a forest road that ascends the northern slope of the Troullinos ravine, 2.2km long. This area used to be covered entirely with orchards that once belonged to the old settlement of Troullinos, but today all that remains are some almond trees, a few fruit trees and the ruins of old buildings. The second section is the most interesting, but also the most tiring – a 900 m section that ascends amongst dense pine forest towards the Anelikos saddle. When you reach the saddle, you will find a junction where you turn left (to the west) to complete the route, walking amongst the restored vineyards of Kalopanayiotis to the new and impressive winery on the mountainside above the village. From here, follow the sign for route 2A towards the Kokkala ravine in order to return to Kalopanayiotis.
